The School Talent Show Part 1; It is Canceled

IMG_1543 (FILEminimizer)

“Now before I dismiss all of you I just want to say that the schools talent show has been canceled. This is because with the wedding and all that it would just be too busy and too frantic for all of us adults to manage. We may however have a talent show next year first term since next term we are doing a play. Class dismissed.” Aristotle Treefellow said to his startled pupils. All of the students were very shocked to hear this news, they had been planning and talking about the schools talent show for weeks and now, it would not happen!

IMG_1544 (FILEminimizer)

The shocked children ran towards their parents who had come to pick them up. Most parents came to pick their children up on a Friday and the children always looked forward to Fridays because sometimes their parents would give them a special treat if they had worked extra hard at school that week. Sure enough it was the Billabong children, Gerimine and Clive which were both seven that got an end of week treat. This was because they were too ill to go to school the week before but managed to catch up on all their school work in only a week.

IMG_1545 (FILEminimizer)

“Mother, Father!” Willow and Peter Cottontail called out to their parents.

“Guess what?! The talent show is cancelled!” Peter exclaimed glumly, he had wanted to enter with some of his friends as a small orchestra.

“What a shame, I was looking forward to seeing both of you up on stage” their mother Sorrel said looking at her childrens dissapointed faces.

Her husband Aaron also felt sad that this event would not be taking place, he had already begun to saw the wood for the stage but he was glad he had not put any nails in them so he could use them for the bed he was making for one of the villagers.

IMG_1546 (FILEminimizer)

The Cottontails walked back to the village with the Beaman family. Unfortunatly Beaman mother Evangeline was not able to come and pick up her children with her husband Elliot like she had planned too but the babies Pickle and Sprout had their doctors appointment on at the same time. While Elliot talked with Sorrel and Aaron the Beaman children Eddie and Lucille walked and talked with Peter and Willow, little Emily Beaman also joined in the conversation at times. The children were disscusing the canceled talent show and even little Emily felt sad that she could not see her big brother and sister perform infront of a real live audiance.

IMG_1547 (FILEminimizer)

After all of the homework was done, Lucille, Willow, Peter and Eddie went to the nearby paddock where the boys played a noisy game of football while the girls sat quietly on a bench like real ladies were supposed to do. All of the boys seemed to have gotten over the dissapointment of the talent show as they were laughing while they played their noisy game. Lucille and Willow however were deep in thought about the talent show and therefore didn’t talk much unless the occasional “what a pity” and “I was really looking forward to it” along with a few sighs.

IMG_1548 (FILEminimizer)

The girls then remembered that they had organized with their friends that they would meet up in the bakery so they quickly hurride off to get there in time. Sure enough Rosie Periwinkle and Anna Bramble where already waiting for them.

IMG_1550 (FILEminimizer)

The for girls sat down and shared their opinions on various topics like they did every friday afternoon until Lucille slammed her hands down on the table. Everyone jumped at the sudden noise and Lucille held her hands tightly, they hurt and tingled because she had hit the table so hard. “I have got a great idea! The grown ups are busy but we are not. So therefore” she said, pausing for effect, “WE could run the talent show!” she said.

Everyone thought that it was a very good idea. ” My father can build the stage like he would have and Anna, your mother can sew the curtains, we are all good drawers, Rosie you are such a great organizer and you Lucille, your father is running for mayor so therefore he can help spread the news!” directed Willow excitedly.

IMG_1551 (FILEminimizer)

Anna ran off to get some drawing supplies from her brother Maxi who was very good at art and the girls were soon planning the dates and their posters.

IMG_1553 (FILEminimizer)

Soon they had all finished their posters.

IMG_1554 (FILEminimizer)

“Auditions on the 17th so two weeks practise time, show on the 23rd, last day of term. Show will be held in the field in which the boys are playing football in right now and entrance is free and you can get tickets for your seats at the Shoe and Sew shop!” Anna exclaimed.

IMG_1555 (FILEminimizer)

So they all ran off to put up their posters. Rosie put hers up on the wall of the Harvester Restaurant.

IMG_1557 (FILEminimizer)

Willow on the side of the country market.

IMG_1558 (FILEminimizer)

Lucille put hers up on the doctors wall.

IMG_1556 (FILEminimizer)

And Anna put hers up on the side of the Bakery.

IMG_1559 (FILEminimizer)

The girls re grouped and talked about who might be the host and hostess of the evening.

IMG_1560 (FILEminimizer)

It was decided to be head girl Lisa Acorn who was 12 and head boy Ashton Fisher who was also 12. They both took up the challenge once they had been informed and set off to spread the news.

IMG_1561 (FILEminimizer)

It was getting late in the day but the girls found out that they still had time to work on their dance routine which they were planing to do at the talent show.

No this is not a preperation story featuring Henry and Tabitha but I hope you will enjoy it anyway. Next weekend I will however do a preperation story.

Elliots and Evangelines River Adventure

IMG_1512 (FILEminimizer)

“That was just the best lunch I have ever tasted, the wine was also fantastic Elliot”

“I know it was Evangeline, I had some myself”

“Don’t be so cheeky Elliot!”

“OK Mother, what about we go for a nice row on the nearby river and maybe even have a picnic?”

“What a good idea and I am your wife not your Mother”

“Hello Perkin, how has your day been?” Elliot asked.

IMG_1513 (FILEminimizer)

“My day has been very good, thank you Elliot. What are you planning to do this afternoon?”

“Elliot and I are going to go on a lovely row on the nearby river after that splendid lunch and wine we enjoyed at the Harvester restaurant”

“Didn’t you go to the Harvester Restaurant last night? Dorothy told me about it.”

“Yes we did ” Elliot replied.

Perkin eyed them both, it was not common to go to the Restaurant that often in Basswood Creek. since they said that they wanted to have a full country experiance, Perkin strarted thinking about how he could really show the the power of nature, “Well, have a good day then!”

IMG_1514 (FILEminimizer)

While Evangeline went shoe shopping Elliot was left to do the picnic shopping. First on his list was the Bakery where he needed to get bread, doughnuts and a few biscuits.

IMG_1515 (FILEminimizer)

“Hello Dorothy! Evangeline and I saw Perkin by the Harvester Restaurant we were just disscussing our plans for the rest of the day”

“Aaah, where is Evangeline?”

“Evangeline is shoe shopping and has left me to shop for our picnic. Can I please have a loaf of bread, two white iced doughnuts and a pink iced biscuit and a green iced biscuit please?”

IMG_1516 (FILEminimizer)

“The bread, doughnuts, biscuits, yes” Dorothy mumbled to herself, checking that she had everything for her customer who was peering at the doughnut display. “Want one?” she asked.

“No thank you, maybe another time.”

IMG_1517 (FILEminimizer)

“Here you are Elliot, I hope you will have fun on your picnic”

“Thanks and goodbye Dorothy”

“Goodbye Elliot”

IMG_1519 (FILEminimizer)

Next on the list was to get wine, apples and jam for the picnic.

“Hello Chelsea, can I please have wine and strawberry jam, red wine please” Elliot asked the female rabbit.

“Ok, shall I put them in a basket for you?” Elliot agreed and then turned to Megan.

“Megan, are those apples in your basket for sale?”

“Yes they are, I have just brought them back from the orchard so they are very fresh”

“Good, may I please have two of them, I must say, they look very juicy”

IMG_1520 (FILEminimizer)

“Going on a picnic are you?” Chelsea asked as she put the glass of homemade strawberry jam into the basket.

“Evangeline and I are going for a row and are planning to have a picnic in the boat when we find some lovely secenery to look at.”

IMG_1521 (FILEminimizer)

Just then, Evangeline turned up and showed her new shoes to her husband.

IMG_1522 (FILEminimizer)

Evangeline inspected his goods until Eddie and Lucille turned up and she had to scold them both. Eddie for carrying a knife like the way he was and Lucille for balancing glass plates and wine glasses in a way that they could fall very easily.

IMG_1523 (FILEminimizer)

“Aaah, I found you just in time” Perkin panted while the Beamans stared at his arrival. “I have come to warn you to take the left turn when the river splits in two. If you go the other way it is rough and dangerous.” he said laughing to himself silently.

The family thanked Perkin for his advice and then set off for the river.

IMG_1524 (FILEminimizer)

Very soon they arrived at the place where the canoe was tied up. Elliot helped Evangeline into the canoe before he too got in.

IMG_1525 (FILEminimizer)

Very soon the canoe was full of food, glassware, a violin and themselves.

“Untie the rope will you Eddie?” Elliot asked and Eddie did what he was told.

IMG_1526 (FILEminimizer)

And they were off.

IMG_1527 (FILEminimizer)

Shortly after they started rowing they came to the split in the river that Perkin had warned them about and turned left how he had instructed them to do.

IMG_1528 (FILEminimizer)

Very soon however Elliot and Evangeline wished that they had not gone left after all. The water had started speeding up and getting wilder and wilder by the meter.

IMG_1529 (FILEminimizer)

They went up and down and down and up in the rough water, watching out for sharp rocks which were just underneath the surface of the water.

“AAAAaaaaaahhhh!”screamed Evangeline

IMG_1530 (FILEminimizer)

Water splashed into the boat, drenching everything within. Evangelines usually tidy fur was now full of knots.

IMG_1531 (FILEminimizer)

After a while they finally reached calmer waters and Elliot discovered that all of the food was ruined, what a terrible day.

IMG_1532 (FILEminimizer)

“Well, we are wet anyway so why don’t we just go for a swim instead of moaning about our spoilt food?!” and with that she leaped off the boat into the water.

IMG_1533 (FILEminimizer)

Elliot stared in shock, this was most unevangeliney. “Come in!” she called happily

IMG_1534 (FILEminimizer)

Elliot took off his jacket and jumped in himself.

IMG_1536 (FILEminimizer)

“I have a feeling that Perkin knew that this was the wrong way…” Evangeline mumbled

IMG_1537 (FILEminimizer)

Later in the day Evangeline and Elliot returned to Basswood Creek dripping wet but smiling brightly.

“Hello Perkin!” Evangeline smiled infront of the Bakery, “if the left was the calm way, I wonder what the right way is like?”

“You went down the left way? But the left way is r- PERKIN!!!”

I hope you liked the story. I know that I have not posted any stories lately nor have I been in the mood to write and create one.

Quick Tutorial Thursdays; Thyme Bush

For todays post, I am doing a bush tutorial which I hope you will enjoy and be able to re create in your village. This is my second plant tutorial after my tree tutorial here. I hope to do more when the thyme plant is bigger, it was very hard to find plastic foilage so I experimented and found thyme also to be very good.

Materials:

– Cheap Fimo, play doh or clay

– PVA glue

– Dried thyme cuttings

– A flat surface covered in cling wrap to stop it sticking to the work space

– Scissors

– Patience, precision and speed!

IMG_0701 (FILEminimizer)

Pat your fimo or something similar into the shape of your bush, at the middle it should be amout one centimeter high. I chose a darkish base since when you are finished there is nothing worse than a white blob thing where your bush comes out of.

IMG_0702 (FILEminimizer)

Spread your shape with PVA glue and poke in tiny cuttings at the bottom, the cuttings keep getting bigger as you reach thre middle. I am sorry that this is the only other tutorial picture but unfortunatly it is quite a sticky procces and I had to run to wash my sticky hands before I could take the photo. This PVA glue dried really fast so this is where your speed comes in.

IMG_0706 (FILEminimizer)

Before the PVA dries, sprinkle thyme leaves into your bush to make it look thicker and cover clay or fimo or play doh. Let it dry and you can put this bush in your village!

This was a tutorial which I made up months ago and since then the thyme has faded quite a bit and I am probably going to go over the bush with a bit of green spray paint. Unfortunatly this is the last quick tutorial thursday of the month since the next thursday is september the first!
