April 2018

Happy April! And happy Easter too! This month I am going to post an Easter story, tomorrow once it is written, and maybe a tutorial as well. I will see how it goes. I haven’t done many crafty things lately so I am hoping that I get a chance to start a small project or something. Not really sure what is going to happen this month SF wise, school is taking up most of my attention unfortunately.

Just a very short post today, have a lovely weekend everyone!

Rumpus’s Mission Part 3

“Come everyone! I have had a little feast set up for us!” Mayor Elliot Beaman called to the Buckley family.

“Oh this is wonderful! You are so kind to us!” Agatha Buckley thanked.

After Rumpus had discovered that there wasn’t a ghost but a family living in the abandoned house, he had run off to notify the Mayor. After all, it was his village so he had a right to know what was really going on. Elliot had then arranged for food to be brought to a picnic table before going with Rumpus to meet the family.

“Take a seat and help yourselves! My name is Alonzo Macavity and that there is my daughter Asparagus, I run the bakery in the village.”

“And my name is Slick Slydale and this is my youngest son Skitter. We have only just moved here.”

Everyone started to help themselves. Alonzo had contributed bread and cake, Slick fresh apples and grapes while Elliot had gotten salad, yogurt and pizza from his wife to bring along. Overall it was a very nice and balanced meal. Kind Mrs. Cottontail had given them a pitcher of orange juice too. Elliot was just in time to grab it before it could get knocked over by the very enthusiastic Oscar Buckley.

“Hold on now Oscar! What would you like?”

“One of those cat bread thingeys!”

“So, what made you decide to move to Dandelion Creek?” Slick finally asked.

“Well, we were sort of forced to move here.” Rupert admitted.

“It all happened around ten weeks ago. All of us were out for a walk, it had snowed quite a bit that day and the snow was piled up very high around the house. Anyway, when we went back to the house, we saw that our little cottage had collapsed under the tremendous weight of the snow which had lain on the roof. It was awful, the snow buried everything except for our small supply cupboard. Thankfully the children had been naughty and had their playthings confiscated or else they too would be buried.”

“It was the worst day of my life” Agatha admitted “We took everything out of the cupboard, very thankful that we weren’t in the house when the roof gave way. Since we lived quite isolated, there were no houses around that we could go to. We knew that the house couldn’t be repaired, it had taken too much damage.”

“We then remembered that we had inherited an old cottage in the West Woodland region so we started to make our way there.” Rupert added.

“When it grew dark we cleared the snow from a small patch of grass to sleep on.”

“I will never ever complain about my bed again!” Oscar promised, “I was so cold and the earth was so hard!”

“So we walked and walked to the next village to find out that the trains had been cancelled for the next month and there weren’t any places for us to stay at in the village.” Agatha continued.

“We slept in a barn once! I felt like Mary and Joseph!” Oscar interrupted.

“Then we reached the house, we didn’t know that there was a village nearby, our map was quite outdated.” finished Rupert.

“Oh you poor things!” Elliot sympathized.

“And now we don’t know what to do! We don’t know anyone and the house need a lot of work!” Agatha wailed, the stress and emotions of the past ten days crashing over her all at once.

Rupert pulled his wife in for a hug as tears started to run freely from her eyes. Everyone else felt awful. The Buckley children had never seen their mother cry before, let alone like this. Alonzo Macavity soothingly rubbed Agatha’s back, like he did to his two infant twins when they were upset. This seemed to calm Agatha a bit but she still continued to cry.

Mayor Elliot had pulled slick away and they started to talk together in hushed voices.

“…paint…”

“…Aaron Cottontail…”

“…seamstress…”

“…a month…”

The two walked back over to the group. Agatha had calmed down now and was just gently hiccuping.

“Dear Agatha and Rupert” Elliot started, “Slick and I have just decided that we and the rest of the critters in the village will help you to renovate your inherited cottage” he paused “if you both agree to teach some lessons at the local school. Aristotle Treefellow is very overworked and it would be nice if he could spend some more time with his family.”

All the Buckley’s let out a faint gasp, shocked that critters who they didn’t even know would be prepared to do that for them.

“Oh yes Elliot!” Agatha exclaimed “Would you really do that?”

“Of course we would. Brilliant idea you two, it would be a nice bonding activity for everyone. We have had many new critters joining us recently!”

“Thank you! You are such good people!” Rupert remarked and gave the three men a manly hug each and then tenderly embraced his wife.

“Yes! I can show you the place where we can play football! It will be so much fun for you to join in! The teams will be even!” Said Rumpus as he helped to pack up what was left of the picnic. The light had begun to fade and the two youngest were feeling quite sleepy.

“See you tomorrow at ten o’clock then!” Skitter called to his new friend Oscar.

“Why at ten?” Agatha inquired.

“Because of the Easter egg hunt, silly!” Skitter laughed happily.

“Be at the meadow we walked through before at nine thirty, the hunt starts at ten.” Elliot explained quickly.

The Buckley family waved as they walked back to the cottage withnthe excess food, looking very much forward to the next day. There would be an Easter egg hunt for the children and they would get to meet the rest of the villagers.

Here it is! The last part to the story! Tomorrow I will hopefully post a calendar photo as well as an Easter story. Hopefully, fingers crossed.

Have a great weekend!

Rumpus’s Mission Part 2

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!”

Rumpus’s scream echoed around the room, the ghost was so close to his face!

He scrambled back to the door but the wind had pushed it shut and he couldn’t get it open! The thing advanced on him slowly, trapping him in the corner.

“Please, please don’t hurt me!” Rumpus stuttered and pushing himself as hard as he could into the wall behind him, wanting to disappear.

The thing came closer, and closer. Rumpus started to realize that the ‘ghost’ had limbs and did not glide. It had two beady black eyes as well, a monster ghost perhaps?

“No, no, no” he muttered as the thing stop in front of him, only centimeters away from his tense body. It opened it’s mouth…

“Hi, my name is Oscar Buckley, nice to meet you.” it said.

“Wha-at?” Rumpus gaped, still trying to open the jammed door.

“Hi, my name is Oscar Buckley, nice to meet you.” it repeated.

Rumpus stared “So you, you are not a monster ghost?” he asked hesitantly and saw that really, the ‘monster ghost’ or ‘ghost monster’ was nothing more than a litle boy, a little boy covered in lots and lots of cobwebs.

The little deer, Oscar, giggled loudly at how frightened Rumpus had looked.

“Oscar? What is it” a female voice floated down from the top level “I heard voices, who were you talking to?” A female deer in a floral dress with a light blue jacket climbed down the ladder and walked to her son with a wash cloth in her hands. “Who are you?” She asked when she saw Rumpus.

“I am Rumpus Macavity, I’m sorry, I didn’t think anyone was here! I’ll leave now.” he replied hastily.

“No, you must come upstairs and meet the rest of the family, are you from the village?”

“Dandelion Creek, Mrs…?”

“Buckley, Agatha Buckley, now come upstairs!”

“Aaaah…”

“Come on!” Oscar encouraged and grabbed his hand and pulled him in the direction of the ladder.

Rumpus had expected the upstairs to look much like it had downstairs, dusty and filled with cobwebs. But it was very different, in one corner were mattresses and blankets, in another stood a small table with a basket of toys and combs. Underneath were more baskets, one with clothes, one with books. In the middle of the room was a rug with fruit on it and a girl was polishing and sorting them. A boy stood by the baskets and a man by the blankets and mattresses. There was also a rather strange silver box that the man stood by, Rumpus wondered what it was.

“Would you like a glass of water?” the man who introduced himself as Rupert asked. Rumpus agreed and watched as a boy around his own age walked over to a steel bucket. “That is my son Freddie” Mr. Buckley explained.

“And that there is my daughter Maria.” he gestured to the girl who had finished ordering the fruit and was now putting them in the corner where the rest of the food stood. “Freddie and Maria will  be attending the local school, do you go there?”

“Yes, all of the children in the village go there to have lessons with Mr. Treefellow. The toddlers go to Nursery with Mrs. Hazelnut.”

“I hope to make many friends!” Maria exclaimed excitedly, “Are there any other girls my age?”

“Yes, most of us are around 10, I am and my twin sister is also. There are a few younger children which go to school and the oldest student is Harrison Walnut, he is 15!” Rumpus told her and then proceeded to retell some of the adventures he had had around the village to Freddie. He looked at the family crowding around him, wondering…

“Mr. Buckley Sir, why are you here?”

To be continued…

Surprise! I have decided to make the story into three parts instead of two! I was writing this and thought that I just didn’t have a photo to go with the explanation of why they moved here and since I wanted to post this today, I am going to do a part three. Thank you for your kind and supportive comments on the first part of the story!

Life is more or less busy, it just feels like it is flying by in a blur! I have some projects due soon and have nearly finished one of my assignments to get credits. (Because I am in the top a stream class, we get to start on some NCEA assessments this year to gather some (hopefully excellence) credits for next year. Google NCEA credits if you don’t know what I am on about) Yeah so that is not so fun but apart from that, life is pretty good.

How is your week going so far?

Rumpus’s Mission Part 1

Rumpus Macavity was on a mission. Yes, he was. A mission he had set himself. For the past few days villagers had been coming out of the forest after their morning walk talking about strange happenings in the old abandoned house which stood a little walk away in a meadow. Many of the little children were scared to go near the place now, they said how it was probably haunted by ghosts. Rumpus wasn’t scared and had gotten sick of his little sister Skimble’s refusals to collect firewood from the surrounding area. So he had made it his mission to prove that the house was truly abandoned and did not house a ghost.

He reached the house after half an hour of walking. It had a blue roof and the windows and door were painted white. One window was open, a branch stretched inside, probably blown there by a storm. another branch lay on the porch and the area had patches of overgrown weeds. It looked a real mess. Rumpus shivered, not because he was afraid, but because the house gave him an uneasy feeling. It made him feel a bit sad.

Suddenly, he looked at the top window, was that a flash of movement?

He shook his head and looked again, nothing was there. “Now I am hallucinating from all those tales  Skimble tells.” he thought.

Slowly he opened the door, it was unlocked and screeched and groaned loudly. “See, unlocked, if someone was there, they would lock it for sure.” Rumpus thought “Though ghosts wouldn’t look the door” he imagined Skimble saying. He took a deep breath and entered the interior of the house.

Inside it was very dusty and cobwebs hung in the corners and everywhere really. In the middle of the room stood a dusty table with two dusty benches, all laced with spider webs.

Rumpus walked over to the table and benches, they looked very much like the picnic tables and benches in the village except that they were probably much older, judging by the amount of dust on them. “See, there is no one here.” he thought and made to go to the door.

But, he had forgotten that he had his food against the leg of one of the benches so when he made to go forward he fell right on his face. “Ouch!” Rumpus muttered as he hit the floor with a would bang, sending the dust spiraling around him. Rubbing his nose with his left paw he turned rolled onto his back-

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!”

To be continued…

What do you guys think of the story? So far? It is a bit shorter than I originally imagined but oh well. I feel like I haven’t posted a story in ages *checks blog posts lists*, yes, it has been around a month and a half! What do you guys like to read? Stories, reviews, tutorials or something else? Anyway, I have been very busy with school work, we had a physics test two days ago and I had to study for that, I got 92% on that so I am happy. I am going to try to post for the whole year this year and not have a break like last year. That is my goal, to be able to fit school, friends, homework, relaxation time and SF into my day at least once a week. Who knows what is going to happen though! Well then, I wish you all a good day and week. Will post part two (Yes, I am organized, I have already photographed it already.) sometime soon, maybe in a weeks time?

Hugs, (And sorry for the large amount of writing at the bottom)
